ZAMBOANGA CITY – From Luzon to Visayas, the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN) finally makes its way to Mindanao. The $150-million joint-build collaboration among InfiniVAN, Eastern Communications and Globe Telecom is yet another milestone in the Philippines’ drive in improving the state of internet connectivity and digitalization, which are being heavily pushed by the current administration. The project, which started July of last year, is one step closer to its completion targeted in the middle of this year.

“With this project, islands such as the Zamboanga Peninsula, can now have reliable, direct internet connectivity”, stated Mr. Alberto “Abet” Espedido, Chief Technology Officer of InfiniVAN Inc. In addition, he also said that with the project coming closer to its finishing point, we can expect major improvements when it comes to business transactions, data transfers, and other telecommunications infrastructure requirements of both the private and public sectors. “Infinivan has been pushing for open access to data connectivity. We try to provide facilities to local service providers by giving them choices for reliable, large capacity and low- latency connectivity. In addition, this will pave the way to extending these same services to the nearby islands”, added Espedido.
